Stalin is has been dead along time since those days. And communist webs can outlast the spider that spun them -and eggs can hatch long after everyone has stopped looking. No Soviet tanks conquered the West. No red army marched down the high street. Instead, the web spread through the institutions that shape civilisation: Family. Religion. Education. Media. Arts and entertainment. Business and finance. Government. For decades, we were assured that the web was imaginary. Communism was dead, socialism had mellowed, and anyone still warning about ideological capture was supposedly trapped in the 1950s. Then the eggs hatched. But the offspring do not resemble their father. They wear no Soviet uniforms and carry no hammer and sickle. They arrive with fashionable vocabulary, impressive qualifications and endless promises of progress, equality, compassion and social justice. They do not call it censorship. They call it community standards. They do not burn inconvenient books. They ensure they are never published, stocked or recommended. They do not close the churches. They encourage it to exchange repentance for activism, Scripture for fashionable ideology, and Christ for the approval of the age. They do not formally seize the children. They teach them to distrust their parents, despise their inheritance. Teach them that their parents’ faith, history and moral convictions are embarrassing obstacles to progress. They do not abolish private enterprise. They regulate, tax, subsidise and intimidate until businesses learn that political obedience is the price of survival. They do not announce the end of democracy. They simply declare more and more opinions too dangerous to be discussed democratically. And whenever somebody points to the enormous web covering society, the hatchlings reply: “Communism? Don’t be absurd. Stalin is dead.” Yes-Stalin is dead. But ideology does not require their leaders to remain alive. They have a habit of surviving long afterwards through their followers in language, assumptions, policies and institutions-and in generations taught never to recognise their origin. The spider is dead. The web remains. The eggs are empty. And the offspring are here......... Welcome to Stalin’s Web-2026.
