Monty Python needed scriptwriters, rehearsals and professional comedians to create institutional absurdity.

Lambeth Palace doesn't need them for their tribute act......In what may be 2026’s most groundbreaking development in British comedy, the Palace producing satire in real time - with real ceremonies, real awards and apparently no awareness among the performers they would have been the pinnacle of satire over 50 years ago!

The Award for Reconciliation and Interfaith Cooperation, presented on the twenty-fifth anniversary of 9/11 to a muslim cleric who had once proposed honouring Osama bin Laden as the “Sword of God,” was performed live at Lambeth Palace - then to top it all off - withdrawing the award later after the audience pointed out the bizarre choice of recipient.

Monty Python merely imagined institutions becoming this absurd.....But the absurd has now become the reality in 2026!

Lambeth Palace has eliminated the scriptwriters and allowed itself to become the parody.......

Were they aware? Almost certainly not..... its probably what makes it comedy gold!

Could it be regarded as unwitting comedy genius? - time will tell. if more episodes are produced by the same Team at Lambeth Palace.
